Crocheted by Syrian refugee women in Lebanon

With long arms, a round belly, and an expression that looks permanently deep in thought, this orangutan has plenty of personality without needing any extra accessories. The soft gray face, hands, and feet stand out against the warm brown body, giving the handmade details a little more definition. Crocheted in the amigurumi style, it has the relaxed, slightly curious look you would expect from a tiny rainforest companion.

This handmade product is crocheted by Syrian refugee women in Lebanon, where Refugee Protection International supports its refugee-led partner, Multi Aid Programs, to train women in their craft. Proceeds support the women's livelihoods, non-formal primary schools for children, and humanitarian programs for the war-affected Syrian community. 

Material: Each item is lovingly crocheted using the amigurumi technique with cotton and acrylic string and stuffed with cotton.
