Crocheted by Syrian refugee women in Lebanon

Our Midsummer Gnome is a refugee-made plush figurine crocheted in bright azure blue and sunflower yellow colors. A summer adaptation of the winter Tomte in Sweden, this Scandinavian-inspired gnome is evocative of the long summer sun over Nordic lakes, where Tomte kept watch over the homestead in folklore. 

This handmade product is crocheted by Syrian refugee women in Lebanon, where Refugee Protection International supports its refugee-led partner, Multi Aid Programs, to train women in their craft. Proceeds support the women's livelihoods and non-formal primary schools for refugee children in Lebanon, along with maternal and child health in communities recovering from conflict in northeast Syria.

Material: Each item is lovingly crocheted using the amigurumi method with cotton and acrylic yarn, stuffed with cotton.
